First up, please allow our team of award-winning hair artisans be the first to wish you a Happy New Year!

It’s been an amazing year here at the best salon in Paddington and we have loved every single minute of it. We are so, so proud of what our team has managed to achieve this year as we completed a record number of the best blow dries, best colours, best haircuts and best styles in Sydney. Here are just a few of our favourite highlights, and here is to many more in 2019!

We revealed our beloved #deedsnotwords collection as a tangible nod to the #metoo campaign, turning our gaze to generations of women who inspire us as strong and brave. This stunning experience featured mothers and daughters from our beautiful community who continually help us to fan the flames of change.

Our incredible colourist Clare completed her La Biosthetique Colour Expert Course making her amongst a very select group to have achieve the brands highest honour. We also welcomed back Jackie to the salon and briefly farewelled Megan as she jetted off to Berlin Fashion Week with the team from La Biosthetique to create magic backstage.

The salon was tried, trusted and approved by the beauty and hair experts at Gritty Pretty, including us as one of Sydney’s top salons in their Little Black Book of Beauty. We also shot a beautiful shoot for Laud Magazine.

Everyone became #oribeobsessed, devouring as much education, time with ambassadors and product experimentation as possible. This award-winning brand blends craftmanship, performance and decades of styling experience from the top of the editorial and salon worlds to create a new category in haircare, and we are proud to have it on our shelves. Whilst it was with incredible sadness that the world farewelled Oribe Canales on 17th December 2018, his legacy will live on forever.

There were many special nights with friends and family, including our magical jewellery showcase with the talented Matthew Ely, where we were able to marvel at a fellow artisan excelling at his trade.

We supported organisations doing the most important work including;

  • Doctors Without Borders through La Biosthetique’s Colour With Care initiative that sees a donation made for every tube of their high quality colour purchased.

  • YGAP’s The Polished Man campaign as we believe we can create a world where no child experiences violence. Our beloved Kate Peck also helped us out with this one. We love you Kate!

  • Sydney Homeless Connect where our team provided TLC and pampering to those in our community who need it most.

  • And, a very special cause close to our hearts, we were so proud to host Australia’s first The Dress Code Project Gender Free Haircut Club, providing 13 LGBTQIA+ youth free haircuts that transcended gender.

Finally, Brett’s role as one of the country’s top educators took him all around Australia inspiring and teaching the next generation of hairdressers to be their absolute best thanks to our wonderful partners, La Biosthetique.

Here is to an even more amazing 2019, with love from the Murphy Gozzard Hair Community!
