Fresh off her Golden Globes appearance, our award-winning team of Paddington hairdressers are paying tribute to the style chameleon that is the one and only - Lady Gaga. From her triumphant album debut with ‘The Fame’ 10 years ago right through to her Globe for ‘Shallow’ and possible Oscar nod for ‘A Star is Born’, seems like there is nothing this amazing performer can’t do. The fact she has achieved so much while fighting for the rights of the LGBT+ community while being a champion for her Little Monsters and those who never fit in, makes us love her just the more. Truly a pop culture icon!

And that’s before we even think about the hair! Gaga has done it all- she has created the best colours, cuts and styles, all while keeping people guessing. Not many mainstream performers can use their style to create a powerful message so here we pay tribute to four of the recent looks from her and her amazing stylist Frederic Aspiras.

You don’t get much more committed than matching your hair to your cerulean blue custom Valentino gown! Inspired by 16th Century European aristocracy, the look was regal and dramatic. To style the sculpted bun, the hair was swept up into a ponytail then wrapped into a half bun, leaving the end of the hair out and parted to each side of the head. The ends of the hair are then curled towards the face to create a finished look that likely has never been seen on a carpet before.

For Gaga, hair is art is hair. Every hairstyle is a chance to create something beautiful and meaningful and this is the perfect example of that. Providing a different look from every single angle, this style demands attention. The intricate braiding which is twisted around the triple sectioned bun adds layer upon layer of interest and keeps this sleek updo feminine and soft.

We are obsessed with this oversize, corseted braid which was created to complement the gothic Armani Prive gown. It added just the right amount of drama while not overwhelming the look and the make-up. Pulled sharply off the face we love how this sleekness contrasts with the textured end, rather than the traditional ponytail finish, giving the look a rock star feel. Plus, the literal corset strings take this to the next level.

So. Much. Fun. This epic nod to the 80’s was by far our fave look on the carpet among a sea of the usual suspects. The brushed out and super amplified spiral tendrils were the epitome of volume and the look was just so fresh and different. We also love the stunning copper blonde that was created for this look.
