Michelle Yeoh. What a woman and what a year. After watching her walk countless red carpets and pick up what seemed like every award on the awards calendar, we are in awe of her. Here at the best salon Paddington we are all too aware of how dismissive society, especially Hollywood, can be toward women of a certain age. Without the folly of youth behind them, women are far too often made to feel less than. Less desired. Less valuable. Less exciting. Michelle is one of the incredible women who are currently urning this idea on it’s head.
Michelle is proudly 60 years old and rather than taking on bit parts she led the charge as a leading lady, complete with some pretty kick ass action moves! Not only is beyond the age that is ‘normally’ accepted, she is also a proud Asian woman who has faced racism and prejudice throughout her career. In fact, she was the first Asian woman to take home the Oscar for Best Actress.
Watching her style chameleon ways on the circuit has inspired the best hairdressers Sydney here at Murphy Gozzard and we would like to humbly pay tribute to this icon with a closer look at some of her most incredible style moments.
GOLDEN GLOBES
Forget pixie crops and short styles, Michelle is proof that any age can look incredible with long locks. Here they have been softly straightened with a deep side part. You can see that she doesn’t have super thick hair but it still works to frame the face beautifully and has a high shine gloss for maximum healthy looking hair.
SPIRIT AWARDS
Rocking out a faux bob! We love that she is having fun with this style and showing how incredible a tousled bob can look. What sets this apart is that the hair is pulled back on the other side, pulling up and away from face for a flattering contrast.
OSCARS
Sticking with the classis deep side part, here she has added loose tumbling curls for a more feminine and chic edge. We also love that she has had fun with accessories, working in a beautifully bejewelled headband for a touch of extra sparkle.
BAFTA’s
Simple perfection. Centre part, poker straight locks and hair off the face to let the outfit do the talking. Bravo.
