Sure we love a lob. And we love voluptuous curls. And a total crop. But there is something so chic and timeless about the iconic bob. It seems to get reinvented every decade and now it is such a versatile look for people of any age with so much room for interpretation. At the recent Governor’s Awards, we couldn’t help but notice it was responsible for a quite a few stand-out looks.
Here at the best hair salon Paddington, the award-winning best hairdressers at Murphy Gozzard have scoured the red carpet to find the best styles. If you are thinking of trying a bob, here is your ultimate guide to your best hair yet.
FLORENCE PUGH
We love how Florence is showing how incredible a bob can look by taking on the wet look trend that we will be seeing lots of next year. Perfect for all ages, this is a sleek and stylish way to add a touch of sophistication. The deep side part adds a flattering touch.
CATE BLANCHETT
This goddess can just do no wrong on a carpet and this is no exception. We love the flirty and feminine touch she has added with the flicked up ends- it’s unexpected and adds a fun twist. Again, the deep side part is a go-to for a flattering bob. Also let’s not forget the fact that this divine Alexander McQueen has already been worn by Cate on a carpet so YAY for a little more re-wearing fashion even at big events.
GABRIELLE UNION
This look has shades of old Hollywood and refined styling and is the perfect balance to her Prada sheath. The sideswept fringe is the hero here, softening the hair so it frames the face perfectly. And don’t forget the gorgeous shine that is at maximum levels here.
CAREY MULLIGAN
Finally someone embracing the centre part, Carey’s is a relaxed take on a tousled look. The subtle curling at the ends is a nice change from a sleeker finish and helps balance out the stronger part. One side tucked behind the ear also ensures the hair doesn’t cover the face.
MICHELLE WILLIAMS
Not going to lie- this is a tougher look to pull off. The shorter bob framing the face so close to the jaw emphasises the face shape dramatically. Michelle’s petite features look amazing, but this is one that not everyone may feel comfortable with. It’s a fantastic way though to show off a beautiful buttery blonde like this.
EMMA CORRIN
Hands down the collest look of the night as far as we are concerned, Emma looked incredible. Sure this is bordering between a pixie and bob but that just makes it even more amazing as they juggle that in between phase. The choppy fringe, the tucked curl at the ends and the grown out blonde all make this a hit.
