With so much going on in the world, and as we continue to deal with the sadness of lockdowns and not being able to see and hug our beautiful clients, it’s nice to get a glimmer of normality around the world. Sure red carpets aren’t crucial in the grand scheme of things, but there is also something fun about celebrating fashion and beauty and art and why shouldn’t we? It’s been the most difficult time so let’s embrace some glamour!
Here, our best hairdressers Paddington at Murphy Gozzard have selected a couple of their favourite looks, and we have run through how to recreate the look until we have you back in the chair for all your special occasion styling. Now, let’s have some fun with styling at home with these two gorgeous looks…

We love this look as it is actually achievable for most people and hair types. Chanel muse Kristen debuted her look which was described as a take on a 50’s pin-up girl a la Bettie Page. It was created as a split-personality hairstyle, which brings together a stylised faux rockabilly bang alongside an easygoing high ponytail. We also love her almost watercolour butter blonde shade as the finishing touch, but this look can be fun with any shade.
To create your own faux bang, use a volumizing primer to set the look and then section a V-shaped piece of hair, blowing it out to create the roll effect and then pinning it under using fine bobby pins ad spreading it out to hide them. Then, curl the remainder of the hair with a wide barrelled curling iron, adding plenty of volume and bounce. The ponytail band here was intentionally left bare but you could use a fun decoration or piece of hair to hide it.

You can’t go wrong with a sleek and polished look like this, but it is the accessories which bring this to life. Here we have a classic low chignon but it will work with a simple pony at the nape of the neck as well, with that attention grabbing centre part for impact. Make sure to prep the hair with a heat protector then go to town with your tongs, working carefully down the hair shaft to maximise shine.
Then comes the fun part. Look around and grab anything that will bring a smile to your face. A sparkling clip or barette, a fun headband, even a piece of costume jewellery can all be incorporated. We love this look as the simple act of adding those gorgeous Swarovski crystals could be achieved with some fun decals or stickers and you have such a mood lifting effect. We say it’s time to throw a little sparkle at lockdowns!
Until we meet again soon, thank you again for your support, and here is to many glamorous future hair looks!
