At Murphy Gozzard we have always placed the utmost importance on creating and cultivating our hair community. For our team, our salon is so much more than a space to create hair. It is a means to connect with those we love and offers us an opportunity to give back in a valuable and thoughtful way. Watching so many families struggle with the challenges presented by Covid-19 has been difficult for us all and we have been looking at ways in which we can help.
Thinking about the most effective way for us to support those in need whilst also giving our clients the chance to become involved led us to the incredible organisation Foodbank Australia and the opportunity to donate to their current Food Drive.
The latest Foodbank Hunger Report revealed that one in five Australians have experienced food insecurity at some point in the last 12 months. This means that for 21% of Australia’s population, there has been at least one time in the last year when they didn’t have enough food for themselves or their family and could not afford to buy more food. It’s hard to believe this is happening in the ‘lucky country’, where we produce enough food for 60 million people.
Foodbank is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the front-line charities that are feeding vulnerable Australians. Foodbank provides 77 million meals a year (210,000 meals a day) to more than 2,400 charities around the country, accounting for over 70% of all food received by charities from food rescue organisations.
With families struggling more than ever before thanks to loss of work, access to services and support, the simple act of donating basic goods has never been more powerful.
The Murphy Gozzard Hair Community is currently collecting donations of the following products;

· PET FOOD
We encourage all our clients to consider bringing some of these items on your next visit into the salon so we can collect enough essentials to truly help those who need it most. A simple gesture that may just mean the world to someone.
