As we near the end of the year, it would be remiss of us not to take a good look back on 2020. One of the most difficult years any of us has been through for so many reasons, and it has kept us guessing right until the end! There were so many difficult points this year and it has been tough to navigate, but, there were also some blessings for the best hairdressers Paddington and we are choosing to celebrate some of those positives.
Closing down the salon earlier this year was heartbreaking, We do what we do because we love it and seeing all of your smiling faces is what makes that happen. Shutting the doors took all of that away and left our artisans at a loss of what to do. The team did their best to stay creative and connected and practised their skills to ensure they would be ready to create the best hair as soon as they were back. The experience brought us closer together as a team as we supported one another through it- mainly through quite a few hilarious Zoom calls!
We were excited to be able to extend to clients our delivery service for retail options to ensure that you were all stocked up with your favourite products through lockdown. We know that it is pretty impossible to do without our incredible partners Oribe, Kevin Murphy and La Biosthetique. It was so gratifying to get you your products while you were doing the right thing and staying safe.
There were many people outside of our Paddington community who were doing it tough from the very start of the year with the horrific bushfires, closely followed by COVID, so we wanted to use our power and position to make a difference. We worked with the amazing charity Foodbank which is Australia’s largest food relief organisation, operating on a scale that makes it crucial to the work of the front-line charities that are feeding vulnerable Australians. Foodbank provides 77 million meals a year (210,000 meals a day) to more than 2,400 charities around the country, accounting for over 70% of all food received by charities from food rescue organisations. Thanks to you we were able to gather together a huge haul of much needed goods.
Before we were faced with lockdown we were able to flex our creative muscles with the creation of our “The Faces of Change” video. This short film was entered into the annual Australian Hair Fashion Awards and was named as Finalist for Video of the Year. We love getting the chance to get creative and send a powerful message with our work, in this case that the status quo is being challenged in the best possible way by strong and inspiring individuals.
And of course we saw the irrepressible Penelope Coombes once again bring smiles to Paddington after featuring her in our most recent campaign. Penny captures everything we love about our Murphy Gozzard community and there has never been a bigger need for her vibrant personality and infectious positive attitude. We love you Penny!
So thank you. To all our beloved and loyal clients. We are here for you and we have been so lucky to have you all here for us. We can’t say what 2021 will bring, but let’s hope it involves plenty of hugs and celebration. Happy New Year everyone!
